Tenth Winner for Your Song

Thursday 8 June 2017, 9:04am

It seems only fitting that the tenth winner for Widden Stud's leading young sire Your Song would be a homebred for Gooree Stud, who bred and raced the Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock.

Prepared by James Cummings, two year-old filly Envy of All had been placed at three previous starts so had a fitness and experience edge over her rivals at Canterbury on Wednesday.

She made full use of those factors, jumping quickly to the front for Glyn Schofield before kicking away down the running to win the 1100 metre maiden by more than two lengths.

"She's a Your Song filly, so it's lovely to see a Gooree homebred win by one of their sires," said James Cummings.

"I was tempted to tip her out after last start, but I'm glad we didn't. She put them away well with race fitness on her side.

"Theres' a lot to like about her and she has a bright future. She's a half-sister to Good Standing (Group II winner) and I think she'll trained on beautifully as a three year-old."

Envy of All is the third winner from three foals to race from Elahi, a metro winning Giant's Causeway (USA) daughter of dual Group I winner Tempest Morn.

Envy of All adds to an impressive list of 10 winners for Your Song headed by stakes-winner Spilt Lip as well as stakes-placed Memento, Peristrophe and Soundcheck.

Your Song has double the number of winners of any other first season sire and stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.
