Dunn suspended following Geelong fall

Monday 29 May 2017, 1:00pm

Jockey Dwayne Dunn has been suspended after an inquiry into a fall at Geelong that left Regan Bayliss with a fractured wrist.

Dunn has been outed until June 21, a ban of 24 meetings, after he pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge.

Both Bayliss and Dean Holland were dislodged in the fall at Geelong on May 19 but the latter escaped unscathed.

Racing Victoria stewards said Dunn allowed his mount Wild Rain to shift in near the 900m mark which resulted in Amschel, ridden by Bayliss, clipping heels and falling and Holland's mount Wanna Be Good being severely checked.

Dunn won last year's Scobie Breasley Medal for riding excellence and currently sits in third place on the Melbourne jockeys' premiership table behind apprentice Beau Mertens and Craig Williams.

Dunn rode in Brisbane on Saturday before starting his suspension.

Bayliss is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
