2YO record for Snitzel and Ryan

Saturday 20 May 2017, 2:16pm

Pymble's maiden win at Newcastle has given his sire Snitzel the outright record for the number of two-year-old winners in a season.

Last year, Snitzel equalled Without Fear's record of 30 individual juvenile winners and on Saturday set the new standard with two months of the season remaining.

Fittingly Pymble is trained by Gerald Ryan who prepared Snitzel throughout his stellar career, which included victory in the 2006 Group One Oakleigh Plate.

"It is an achievement and I'm pleased I was the one to do it," Ryan said.

"I trained Snitzel's first winner Intertidal and now I've had the one to get the record, so it is special."

Snitzel has now sired 29 juvenile winners in Australia this season and one each in South Africa and New Zealand.

He stands alongside his own sire Redoute's Choice at Arrowfield Stud and heads the 2017 stallion roster at a service fee of $176,000.

Multiple Australian champion sire Redoute's Choice will stand for $137,500.
