Beadman after first Queensland stakes win

Friday 12 May 2017, 1:10pm

Darren Beadman gets a chance for his first Queensland stakes winner as a trainer with Morton's Fork at Doomben.

Beadman took over as the interim head trainer for Godolphin Australia on Sunday and welcomed his first winners at Canterbury on Wednesday.

"It is an honour to be given a chance by Godolphin and we obviously want to get winners and winners in stakes races,' Beadman said.

Morton's Fork will be his first Queensland stakes runner in Saturday's Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1350m).

As a jockey Beadman rode about a dozen stakes winners in Queensland including the Group One Doomben Cup on Juggler.

Morton's Fork won the Sandown Guineas last spring and also won a trial at Randwick on April 28.

He was the TAB' $4.40 favourite on Friday ahead of the James Cummings-trained Good Standing and New Zealander Hall Of Fame at $5.

Top kiwi hoop Opie Bosson has the ride on Hall of Fame who won the Group One Levin Stakes in January in which last month's Australian Derby winner Jon Snow finished third.
