The 2017 Adelaide Festival of Racing kicks off this Saturday with 2 runners for Blueblood Thoroughbreds in the two featured Group 1 races.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained filly, Sedanzer (By Sebring) is set to run in the $500,000 Group 1 Australasian Oaks followed by the Mick Price trained, Secret Agenda (By Not A Single Doubt) in the $1M Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Some of Australia's best thoroughbreds will descend on Morphettville Racecourse and attempt to write their names in South Australian racing history.

Sedanzer a lightly raced 3YO filly with 3 wins, has shown a respectable amount of ability since returning to the Waterhouse stables late last year. Sedanzer was unlucky in the Group 3 Schweppervescene Stakes on 22nd April, coming away with 4th placing.

Gai Waterhouse commented, “I could not be more delighted with the way Sedanzer looks. Her coat is gleaming. She’s carrying excellent condition and she is beautifully muscled up. Her work this morning, as it has been since her last run, was faultless. Jockey Stephen Baster partnered her over 1200m and he commented, "She was strong all the way to the line and will take a stack of beating in Saturday's Oaks." I'm really looking forward to Sedanzer taking her place in Saturday's Group 1 Schweppes Oaks over 2000m with Stephen Baster booked to ride”.

Secret Agenda needs no introduction. She is set to take her place in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes with jockey, Damien Oliver in the saddle. Ollie knows every Secret about the horse and will be in the mix on Saturday to bring her home with a win.

Mick Price commented, “she has drawn barrier 16 out of 20. The handicap rating is to our advantage. Very happy with the mare. Ollie rode her this morning on the steeple grass, and she rode super. Very happy with her gallop. I think she goes over to SA at her top. It’s early in this preparation. She’s had a freshen up and she looks fantastic. Very happy with horse and we’ll be cheering her home on the day”.

Blueblood, who syndicated both horses, are extremely excited to have 2 runners contesting 2 Group 1’s in the one day.

Carol Walsh, Blueblood’s director, commented, “it is such a delight to have 2 runners competing in the Group 1’s on Schweppes Oaks Day. What a thrill it would be and great achievement, if we could come away with 2 Group 1’s within the same day. All my fingers will be crossed and I wish all involved the very best for both Sedanzer and Secret Agenda”.
