Busy return from injury for Robbie Fradd

Thursday 27 April 2017, 10:45am

Brisbane jockey Robbie Fradd will have a busy comeback to racing from injury at Eagle Farm.

Fradd hasn't ridden in a race for seven weeks after breaking a wrist when his mount broke down and collapsed under him at Doomben.

It was initially thought Fradd had escaped serious injury but a later X ray showed a fracture in his wrist which has kept a frustrated Fradd sidelined.

He got a doctor's clearance last week to ride trackwork and the all-clear this week to ride in races.

Fradd has six rides on Saturday, five for leading trainer Tony Gollan - Salmanazar, Pindan Pearl, Amexed, Lipstick Lover and Lord Coconuts.

He will also ride Hundred for trainer Brett Lunney in the Group Three Gunsynd Classic.

"It will obviously be good to get back and also to be riding again for Tony," Fradd said.

Gollan had been sharing his rides between Fradd, Jim Byrne and Lani Fancourt before Fradd's injury.

"Jim and Lani are both suspended so Robbie's return has been timely. Let's hope I can get a winner for him," Gollan said.

Pindan Pearl is one of the most interesting runners of the day as the former Melbourne and Sydney trained mare hasn't raced since finishing ninth in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes at Rosehill on March 25.

"She is now owned by Glenlogan Park stud which is keen to get black type for her. I had her entered in an open handicap at Doomben last week but she drew wide so I thought she would be better placed in a benchmark race on Saturday," Gollan said.

Fradd has ridden 50 metropolitan winners this season and was second on the Brisbane premiership when injured.

He is now eight behind Byrne with Jeff Lloyd the runaway leader on 110.
