English to be vetted before All Aged

Monday 10 April 2017, 3:27pm

All Aged Stakes favourite and defending titleholder English will have to pass a veterinary test to take her place in the Group One race at Randwick

Her trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, have told stewards the mare is being treated for a minor laceration to her near hind hock.

She will be examined by Racing NSW chief veterinary officer Craig Suann on Thursday, two days before the 1400m-race.

English is one of the horses at the centre of an inquiry over the substitution of three horses in public course proper gallops at Randwick last week.

Horses entered for Saturday's Queen Elizabeth Stakes meeting were given access to the course proper on Tuesday.

They were required to wear race day colours and the gallops were televised with commentary.

English, Serena Bay and Debonairly were listed to gallop but their places were taken by Fabrizio, Sort After and Stampede.

Waterhouse and Bott will front Racing NSW stewards on Tuesday.

English is the $4.60 equal favourite in opening markets on the All Aged Stakes alongside the Darren Weir-trained Black Heart Bart.

At her most recent start on April 1, English finished second to Chautauqua in the TJ Smith Stakes after looking to have the race in her keeping.

Black Heart Bart hasn't raced since he won the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on February 25 with Victorian trainer Weir reluctant to run him on the heavy tracks Sydney has experienced over the past few weeks.
