Pumpkin Pie bakes her rivals at Goulburn

Saturday 18 February 2017, 6:39pm

Pumpkin Pie has overcome the widest barrier to win the second regional heat of the Country Championship at Goulburn.

The Danny Williams-trained filly has now joined Grafton heat winner Perfect Dare at the top of the market for the $400,000 Final at Randwick on April 1..

The two are at $4.60 after both were $11 before their wins.

Jay Ford was positive on Pumpkin Pie and steered her over from the outside to take up the running on Saturday.

The $2.20 favourite beat Steel Frost from the Anne-Marie Ruttley stable by 1-1/2 lengths with both qualifying for the final.

The series moves to Dubbo on Sunday.
