Jorda ruled out of Blue Diamond Prelude

Wednesday 8 February 2017, 12:14pm

Gimcrack Stakes winner Jorda is not among the acceptances for the Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies at Caulfield after suffering a setback.

The Godolphin filly was to make her Melbourne debut in Saturday's lead-up to the Blue Diamond Stakes but Godolphin released a statement on Wednesday morning saying the filly would miss the race after a training mishap.

"Two-year-old filly Jorda has suffered a slight training mishap this week and will not be taking her place in Saturday's G2 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield," Godolphin said.

"She will travel back to Sydney to prepare for upcoming races during the autumn carnival."

Godolphin trainer John O'Shea still has last-start Canterbury debut winner Marsupial in Saturday's Blue Diamond Prelude for colts and geldings.

"He's had a look at Caulfield this week and seemed to handle it well enough," O'Shea said.

"The draw gives him the chance to take a good position.

"I'll make a decision on where he goes next after Saturday."

Marsupial, to be ridden by Ben Melham, has barrier five in a field of 14 which includes the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Pariah (barrier nine), Blue Diamond Preview winner Property (three) and the Mick Price-trained Cao Cao ( eight).

Marsupial is not among the Blue Diamond Stakes nominations and would need to be a late entry for the Group One race on February 25.

The Fillies Prelude has a field of nine including unbeaten Catchy and the Darren Weir-trained Limestone.
