Three interstate runners in Hobart Cup

Wednesday 1 February 2017, 7:43am

Three interstate runners feature among the 10 acceptors for the Hobart Cup including Big Duke and Cool Chap who are set for a rematch in the $200,000 race.

The Darren Weir-trained Big Duke defeated Cool Chap over 2040m at Moonee Valley last start and the pair clash again in Sunday's 2400m Group Three race in Tasmania.

Brenton Avdulla will ride Big Duke who will be out to give Victoria's premier trainer his fifth Hobart Cup.

The imported Big Duke has raced four times in Australia and won his past two starts in Melbourne over 1800m and 2040m.

Kerrin McEvoy will partner Cool Chap for Lee and Anthony Freedman while Luke Currie will be aboard the other interstate visitor Lucky Lucky Lucky.

Craig Newitt rides last year's Hobart and Launceston Cups winner Up Cups who is the topweight with 58kg.
