Turn Me Loose set for Group One return

Tuesday 6 December 2016, 8:28am

Turn Me Loose is scheduled to have his first start in his native New Zealand in two years in preparation for another Australian campaign.

The winner of the 2014 NZ2000 Guineas, Turn Me Loose has won two Group One races in Australia, the 2015 Emirates Stakes and this year''s Futurity.

Co-trainer Murray Baker has earmarked next month's Group OneTelegraph (1200m) at Trentham as a lead-up to a Melbourne campaign.

"They might go a bit quick for him, but we want to give him a run here," Baker told NZracing.co.

Turn Me Loose will then run in the Orr Stakes at Caulfield on February 11 before his defence of the Futurity Stakes two weeks later.

He had two Melbourne starts in the spring but was unplaced in both the Schillaci Stakes (1100m) and Darley Classic (1200m).

"There just weren't the right races for him at that stage of the carnival, but it got him back in the groove and we're really happy with him," Baker said.

Turn Me Loose will carry 59kg in the Telegraph under the set weights and penalties conditions.

His three-year-old stablemate Saracino, winner of the Danehill Stakes at Flemington in September, is also a likely Telegraph starter.
