Prebble on Ferlax in Randwick Guineas

Thursday 7 March 2013, 1:37pm

Hong Kong-based Brett Prebble is chasing a Group One double in Melbourne on Saturday but is also looking to make an impact in Sydney, starting with the Randwick Guineas ride on Ferlax.

Prebble has picked up the ride on last week's Australian Guineas winner in the Group One Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday week.

Last year's Melbourne Cup-winning jockey watched Ferlax's Australian Guineas win and is looking forward to taking the ride.

"He's a nice horse. He's only a lightly-raced horse but he's shown his ability," Prebble said.

"They keep raising the bar and he keeps jumping it."

His possible opposition in the Randwick Guineas includes the Gai Waterhouse-trained star Pierro.

"He's going to bump into the good ones up there including Gai's horse Pierro," Prebble said.

"It's tough competition but he's coming off a Group One win and he looks to be a horse going forward."

Prebble rides Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon in Saturday's Australian Cup at Flemington and Spirit Of Boom in the Newmarket Handicap.
