Heavenly Descent makes it three in a row

Saturday 26 November 2016, 1:32pm

Heavenly Descent has defied a tough run at Moonee Valley to win her third race in less than three weeks.

The Mick Price-trained filly broke her maiden at her third start at Pakenham on November 10 before adding a second win at Moonee Valley eight days later.

The three-year-old was sent out at $9.50 in Saturday's race over 1600m and was caught three-wide from the outside barrier in the field of seven for apprentice Beau Mertens before confirming her courage.

Price, whose daughters Kelly and Stephanie are in the ownership, plans to give Heavenly Descent a spell and hopes to aim her at next year's Adelaide carnival.

"I was squirming through the run, just watching it," Price said.

"It wasn't the kid's (jockey's) fault, it was just one of those races where I was thinking, how hard is she having to do this?"

Price said for Heavenly Descent to still be able to kick in the straight and win was a promising effort and he hopes he can stretch her out in distance.

"It would be lovely to think she could get 2000 metres," Price said.

Heavenly Descent defeated Tiffany's Lass ($13) by half a length with two lengths to Invincibella ($2.90) third.
