Guys hope Starcourt can fill void

Thursday 17 November 2016, 3:58pm

The Bryan and Daniel Guy training partnership is hoping lightning can strike twice with the promising Starcourt.

The gelding will be having his second start for the Guy stable in the Colts and Geldings Three-Year-Old (1000m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

At his first start for the Guys two weeks ago Starcourt was an impressive second to promising Savana Amour in fast time at Doomben.

Starcourt was originally trained by Gary Moore in Sydney and had one start for him when third at Hawkesbury in February.

After that run it was decided he would be better placed in Queensland and Starcourt has bloomed since moving north.

"He won a Gold Coast trial last month and then was very good first-up when he showed pace and fought on well," Bryan Guy said.

"He will be fitter for that run on Saturday and he has a good barrier."

Moore was also the original trainer of Eagle Way who was sent to Guy and went on to win the Group One Queensland Derby in June.

Eagle Way is now in Hong Kong with trainer John Moore but the Guys are hopeful Starcourt can go some way to filling the void.

"It would be a bit much that lightning would strike twice. But you can only hope," Bryan Guy said.

Starcourt cost $300,000 as a yearling at the Magic Millions sales but was not paid up for the Millions series.

"I hope we can win a few races to get his prize money up and then get a wild card into the Millions day," Guy said.
