Kudero to restart Sydney career

Friday 11 November 2016, 3:22pm

As he enjoys a rare holiday in tropical Queensland,. Sydney trainer Clarry Conners is keeping in close touch with his Warwick Farm stable.

Among his runners this weekend is Kudero who has returned home after 18 months in Brisbane with his owners lured by the increased prize money in Sydney.

The sprinter runs in Saturday's All Our Mob Handicap at Rosehill over 1200 metres with apprentice Taylor Marshall's claim reducing his weight to 52 kilograms.

Kudero won four races for Conners before being transferred to Eagle Farm trainer Barry Lockwood who prepared him for another five wins.

"He has travelled down well and is in great order," Conners said.

"The prize money is much better in Sydney.

"He is race-fit and with no weight on his back, I think he might run a race."

Kudero is the $17 outsider in the six-horse field with That's A Good Idea and Meursault the TAB's $3.20 equal $3.20 favourites on Friday.

He has had six starts since August without winning but has been unlucky in a couple of his runs.

A $40,000 yearling, Kudero has earned his owners almost $400,000.

His stablemate Decision Time has earned four times that amount over a long career which is not finished yet.

Runner-up to Crystal Lily in the 2010 Golden Slipper, nine-year-old Decision Time is the only one of the 15 runners from that race still competing - but his trainer knows he is a race-to-race proposition.

"He's just having a freshen-up and we'll decide what to do with him," Conner said.

"He's not retired yet."
