Mr Manhattan grabs big city win at C'bury

Saturday 5 November 2016, 3:13pm

Mr Manhattan has topped off a sterling week for part-owner Wilf Mula, carrying his pink and black colours to victory at Canterbury.

Seven days after Flying Artie upstaged a star-studded Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes field at Flemington, Mr Manhattan put paid to his rivals on Saturday.

"The show rolls on," trainer Joe Pride said.

Mr Manhattan, the $3.70 favourite, was strong to the line despite shouldering 60.5kg under jockey Tim Clark.

Stablemate Painte ($4.60) gave pride the quinella while Grafton-trained Lucky Meteor ($4.60) finished third.

"It was an impressive win and I thought the other horse returned really well," Pride said.

The win took Mr Manhattan's record to six wins from 11 starts and preserved his unbeaten first-up record.

Pride said Mr Manhattan is likely to get his first shot at stakes racing in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on December 3.

"He could (continue in that form) as long as I maintain that pattern with him where I keep him fresh," Pride said.
