Berry suspended, but free for key G1s

Wednesday 26 October 2016, 6:32pm

Tommy Berry has been suspended for careless riding but will be free to ride Japanese raider Curren Mirotic in the Melbourne Cup.

Berry's four-meeting suspension starts on the day after the VRC Oaks, leaving him free to ride ride on the first three days of the Cup carnival at Flemington including Swear in Saturday's Group One Victoria Derby.

He was suspended after stewards determined his mount Cannot Be Serios caused interference to Know How at the 800m mark of Wednesday's McGrath Estate Agents Handicap at Canterbury.

Berry had no bookings for the final day of the Flemington carnival on November 5 and is free to resume riding on November 13.
