Royal Myth to atone at Eagle Farm

Friday 21 October 2016, 3:30pm

Caloundra filly Royal Myth is set to erase memories of her disastrous first start and confirm her rating as one of the best juveniles in Queensland.

Royal Myth ran third in her debut at Doomben three weeks ago and trainer John Zielke said he couldn't remember having a horse in any race that got into so much trouble and still managed a place.

"She jumped in front but then wanted to buck for 100 metres and went back through the field. Then another runner checked her. In the straight her jockey, Jim Byrne, went for a run on the rails and it closed," Zielke said.

"I was walking into the enclosure with a smile on my face because I was thrilled with the run and even BRC Chairman Neville Bell said he had never seen such a good thing beaten."

Zielke has since taken Royal Myth, a half sister to his top juvenile of last season, Royal Tithe, to the trials where she went well ahead of Saturday's 1000m-race for two-year-old fillies.

"I think she can beat these and confirm herself as one of the best two-year-olds in the state," he said.

Zielke was heartened by the impressive win of Dream Kisses at Eagle Farm last Saturday as that filly was second in the Doomben race.

"There isn't much doubt we should have beaten Dream Kisses so it was a good sign for us," Zielke said.

Royal Myth is a daughter of first season sire Golden Archer and is raced by Zielke's main clients, the Dovedeen syndicate.

Zielke and Dovedeen combined for a Queensland record number of15 two-year-old wins last season.

"I have got about 16 two-year-olds here at the moment and while some will probably be best as three-year-olds we should have another good season," Zielke said.
