Your'e So Good cleared for Aust Guineas

Tuesday 26 February 2013, 1:02pm

Trainer Nigel Blackiston would be lying if he said he was confident of You're So Good bringing up a three-peat for the fillies in Saturday's Group One Australian Guineas.

But that has more to do with the presence of "superstar in the making" All Too Hard than his opinion of the lightly-raced You're So Good.

Outstanding colt All Too Hard has a stranglehold on Saturday's 1600m race at Flemington but Blackiston believes the rest are an even bunch and You're So Good deserves her chance.

All Too Hard, brilliant winner of the C F Orr Stakes and Futurity Stakes this preparation, is the $1.35 Guineas favourite.

Next best in the market is at $17.

"Obviously All Too Hard is the outstanding one in the field and a superstar in the making," Blackiston said.

"But I think the rest are pretty even.

"I'm very happy with the filly."

You're So Good was narrowly denied in the Group Three Vanity (1400m) last start when she led the field and "did all the work" only to be run down late by the resuming Alzora.

After seeing a number of Guineas-bound colts race 40 minutes later in the C S Hayes Stakes, Blackiston was only too happy for You're So Good to press on to the Group One feature and take on the boys.

Fillies have won three of the past six Australian Guineas with Miss Finland successful in 2007 and Shamrocker and Mosheen victorious in the past two years.

"You'd be kidding yourself to think you could beat All Too Hard on a good day, but if she could pick up some more black type it would be great for the owners," Blackiston said.

You're So Good doesn't have the same credentials as those fillies heading into this year's Guineas, but Blackiston has always had a good opinion of the daughter of Savabeel who'll front up at Flemington for just her fourth start.

"Right from day one she has shown above average ability," the trainer said.

He also believes she will stretch to 2000m, opening up the option of Group One targets against her own age and sex later in the campaign.

"If we get through Saturday and she pulls up really well, there's the 2000 metre (Australasian) Oaks in South Australia," Blackiston said.

"Or the Vinery Stud Stakes in Sydney."

Alzora is the only other filly among the 25 Australian Guineas nominations.

Albrecht, Phillipi, High Shot and Sheer Talent share the second line of betting while You're So Good is at $26.
