Eagle Farm getting back to best

Sunday 18 September 2016, 8:27am

Brisbane Race Club officials are confident the new Eagle Farm track is close to performing at its best.

Eagle Farm has had its critics since it reopened in June and received another test on Saturday after almost 90mm of rain in the lead-up to the meeting.

The track was rated a soft 7 but raced well enough to be raised to a soft 5 as the day went on.

BRC Chairman Neville Bell said it was a pleasing indication the track was starting to knit properly after being resurfaced.

"We had a lot of rain and it stood up really well. The times were slow but they have been all the time since we reopened," Bell said.

"We have said all along that once we get to the main growing season this track will flourish.
