Madluce Missile passes crucial test

Thursday 15 September 2016, 2:03pm

Promising Madluce Missile has passed a barrier test and is cleared to resume racing after putting in a wayward performance at the start of his last race.

However, trainer Chris Anderson is still debating whether to run him from the outside barrier in the Hamilton Hotel Hcp (1500m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

At the same track two weeks ago, Madluce Missile took a left hand turn as the field jumped, ran to the outside fence and nearly dislodged jockey Paul Hammersley.

He then trailed the field home to be beaten about 27 lengths in the 1400m race.

Madluce Missile had been heavily backed after finishing strongly in fourth place at his previous start over 1200m.

Anderson took Madluce Missile to the jump-outs this week and he passed his test with no problems.

"He breezed through the trial. But you wouldn't believe it we drew 11 out of 11 on Saturday," Anderson said.

"It looks like there is a trick to him that he jumps perfectly when drawn in between horses.

"But when he doesn't have a horse on his outside there might be a problem. Hopefully, there won't be a repeat performance on Saturday."

Anderson has put blinkers on Madluce Missile and booked in-form jockey Robbie Fradd.

"Both are positives and provided the rain stays away I think he will race well," he said.

Anderson has also put blinkers on One Mansini in the Class 3 Plate (1500m).

"I think the blinkers will make a big difference as she hasn't had much luck lately," he said.
