Mihany scores all-the-way win at Valley

Saturday 3 September 2016, 1:52pm

Apprentice Regan Bayliss has carried out instructions to perfection to guide Mihany to an all-the-way win at Moonee Valley.

Mihany ($6) bounced to the front under Bayliss and the five-year-old gelding gave a strong kick coming to the home turn and set up a winning break.

Sadaqa sat just off the leader and held on for second, 3-1/2 lengths from Mihany with another half neck to Foundry in third and another nose back to the $1.70 favourite Raw Impulse.

"We wanted Regan to show the intent to lead and then we said don't be frightened to get going at the 600 metres," Mihany's co-trainer Tom Dabernig said.

"We thought he'd have a fitness edge and it worked out perfectly.

"Full credit to Regan Bayliss. He's really been riding well of late."

Bayliss said Mihany was hard-fit and down in the weights with 53kg after his claim was well placed on Saturday.
