Nick Heywood scores first city win

Wednesday 24 August 2016, 5:23pm

Apprentice jockey Nick Heywood has ridden his first city winner, guiding Burradoo to victory at Warwick Farm.

In testing conditions, Heywood took Burradoo ($4.20), trained by Canberra-based Mick Miladinovic, to victory over $3.80 favourite Madame Lily with Lion Couchant ($5) third in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m) on Wednesday.

"It's good to get the first one. It's always hard getting the first out of the way," Heywood said.

Originally from the NSW Riverina, Heywood has joined Randwick trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.
