Stakes winner Sweet Sherry will be given every chance to prove she's a Thousand Guineas filly this campaign with the Golden Rose also in the mix.

Sweet Sherry is set to have her first start for trainers Leon and Troy Corstens in Saturday's Cleanaway Plate (1200m) for fillies at Moonee Valley.

The three-year-old was trained by Brent Stanley during her juvenile season, registering a stakes win on debut at Flemington last spring while her autumn included a game seventh in the Golden Slipper.

"We're going to try to get her to the Thousand Guineas," Troy Corstens said.

"I'm not sure if she'll stay the 1600 metres but we'll give her every opportunity to try until she shows us that she can't."

Sweet Sherry holds a nomination for the Golden Rose (1400m) in Sydney next month and her performance on Saturday will have a bearing on whether she heads to that race.

"She would have to run enormously on Saturday and then we'll have a look at it. But we'll re-assess after Saturday," Corstens said.

Sweet Sherry galloped over 800m in company with McKenzie Stakes hopeful Deal Master on Tuesday at Moonee Valley.

"They ran their last 600 metres in a tick over 38 (seconds)," Corstens said.

Sweet Sherry won a jump-out by several lengths at Flemington last Friday week.

"She trialled beautifully about a week and a half ago with the blinkers on but I left them off at Moonee Valley and she won't race in them (on Saturday)," Corstens said.

"We'll keep them up our sleeve.

Steven Arnold will ride Sweet Sherry on Saturday.

"She's a beautiful big, scopey filly," Corstens said.

"She's got quite a bit of improvement to come fitness-wise and in the coat, but for this time of the year I'm really happy with where she's at."
