Single Gaze looking better than expected

Tuesday 16 August 2016, 5:42pm

Group One winner Single Gaze's sparkling return to Nick Olive's stable has forced him to reconsider spring options for the mare.

The Vinery Stud Stakes winner's target race remains the Group Two Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 30.

But the Canberra trainer is not ruling out another tilt at a Group One prize in spring.

"She is going very well though so the target could change," Olive said.

"We could be upgrading to something a bit better if she keeps going as well as she is."

Single Gaze will line up in an 800m jump-out on her home track on Wednesday morning.

Olive says he is delighted with the mare who has fully recovered from a fall in the Australian Oaks at Randwick in April.

"She is going absolutely super. I'm so happy with how she's come back," he said.

"She's bigger and stronger and just working the house down."

Olive is yet to decide if Single Gaze will resume in the Group Two Theo Marks Stakes at Rosehill on September 10 or the Let's Elope Stakes at Flemington on the same day.
