Emoji brings up milestone win for Begg

Tuesday 16 August 2016, 3:22pm

Emoji has raced to a convincing maiden victory at Pakenham to give Grahame Begg his first win since relocating to Victoria and rejoining the training ranks.

Begg trained successfully out of Randwick in Sydney for 25 years before closing his stables in December 2014 to take a break.

A multiple Group One-winning trainer, Begg moved to Victoria a couple of months ago to begin a new business out of the Pinecliff facility on the Mornington Peninsula.

Begg had his first runners back last month and Emoji brought up his milestone first winner from his new base on Tuesday.

The four-year-old scored by four lengths in the 1400m race on the synthetic track.

"It's great to be back," Begg told Racing.com.

"It's been a good effort, the staff has done a big job getting everything on track and hopefully it's onwards and upwards."
