Lindsay Park 3YOs kick off at Caulfield

Friday 12 August 2016, 2:12pm

Big stables with large numbers of young horses can find it hard to keep their runners apart, especially early in the season.

The Lindsay Park operation of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig is an example with two runners in each of the Group Three three-year-old races at Caulfield on Saturday.

Valliano and Highland Beat run in the Vain Stakes with Najmaat and Athena Lass contesting the Winslow Group Stakes for fillies.

Dabernig said as the team moved further into their spring campaigns they would eventually get sorted out.

Valliano and Highland Beat are entered for the Caulfield Guineas and Dabernig says Valliano may be more of a prospect than his stablemate.

"They're hard to split on Saturday as they both have good Caulfield records and both have had faultless preps leading up to the race," Dabernig said.

"Highland Beat, ridden quietly, has found the line a few times ridden off the pace but he's an Exceed And Excel and I'm not sure whether he'll be a miler.

"Valliano, I'm a little more confident about getting a mile."

Dabernig says Najmaat has a touch of class and will relish a firm track on Saturday.

He said the filly flopped in the wet during the Sydney autumn and her trials on wet ground had been average.

"Fitness-wise she goes into the race with improvement in her," Dabernig said.

"She'll improve with racing but she could come out and run a ripper fresh."

Corey Parish doesn't get a lot of opportunities at Saturday city meetings but has been rewarded after the debut win of Athena Lass at Moonee Valley.

Parish has been riding winners for Lindsay Park on the country and provincial circuit and is one of their riders at the stable's Euroa training complex.
