Robbie Laing is putting all talk of Lord Of The Sky heading overseas behind him as he prepares the sprinter for a stakes race at Caulfield.

Lord Of The Sky recorded his first win in more than two years at Caulfield on July 30 and heads back there on Saturday for the Group Two P B Lawrence Stakes.

Laing said there had been interest from France before Lord Of The Sky's Bletchingly Stakes win and from US interests afterwards.

"I haven't heard from my French connection but there's a bit of interest from America for a sprint on Breeders' Cup day at Santa Anita," Laing said.

"But I don't go through the particulars.

"All that I'm doing is training him and if anything comes up, he goes."

Lord Of The Sky will be having just his second try at 1400m on Saturday.

His one appearance at the distance came in January last year when seventh in the Chester Manifold Stakes at Flemington.

Laing is unconcerned going back to the trip which is 200m further than the Bletchingly.

"I generally give them Sunday off but I did plenty with him," Laing said.

"He did an hour-and-a-half down the beach on Sunday and importantly he's pulled up well after his gallop on Monday.

"On Thursday morning he'll go 1200 metres in evens with (work rider) Jamie Bates.

"He'll lead on Saturday and if something wants to take him on it'll finish out the back of the field, and probably so will we.

"But he's won six races, all at Caulfield.

"It's his third run in and it's a great time to try him back at 1400 metres."

Lord Of The Sky was relaxed on his way to the start at his last start and Laing has put that down to the cooler weather.

"He loves this time of the year as he suffers from asthma in the warmer weather," he said.

Mark Zahra replaces Damien Oliver on Lord Of The Sky with Oliver electing to ride the Danny O'Brien-trained Miss Rose De Lago.
