Single Gaze on G2 Stocks Stakes path

Tuesday 26 July 2016, 5:20pm

Group One Vinery Stud Stakes winner Single Gaze is back in work as she looks to win a major race during the Melbourne spring carnival.

Trainer Nick Olive said Single Gaze galloped on Tuesday morning at Canberra and he expected the mare to run in a trial towards the end of August.

Olive said his stable star had returned to full fitness following a fall in the Australian Oaks at Randwick on April 9 in which her jockey Kathy O'Hara suffered injuries which sidelined her for two months.

"Single Gaze didn't suffer any injuries as such, but she had a lot of deep bruising which took a while to come right," Olive said.

"She's 100 per cent now."

Olive said the Group Two Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley over 1600m for mares in September would be an early spring target.

"We'll take it from there with how well she's coming along, but she'll be nominated for all the good races," Olive said.
