A bushland search for popular racehorse trainer Bindi Cheers has been suspended until first light.

The Taree trainer has not been seen since she left Hawkesbury racecourse at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon.

Her car and horse float were left at a service station in the Newcastle suburb of Beresfield and Cheers is believed to be on foot.

The search was suspended late on Monday afternoon.
