Royal Tithe to cap 2yo season for Zielke

Thursday 7 July 2016, 3:41pm

A proposed sale of Royal Tithe has failed to materialise and the classy filly is back on course to help trainer John Zielke complete a great season with two-year-olds.

Royal Tithe will tackle the Giddy up Club Two Year Old (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday where as the winner of three races she is well placed under the set weights conditions.

Zielke has had a big season with juveniles with five individual winners of 11 races who have earned $770,000 prize money.

The trainer said Royal Tithe had been under offer from Victorian owners but as far as he knew the sale had fallen through.

"A start on Saturday was always based on how the sale went but it looks as though she will be staying here and running on Saturday," Zielke said.

"She does look very well off at the weights even thought we can't claim on her. She would have at least 59kg in a handicap race."

The Caloundra-based trainer's two-year-old winners have all come from Evan Hartley's Dovedale Syndicate.

The best overall performance was from Dreams A Plenty who was second in the Group Two BRC Sires and fifth in the Group One J J Atkins Stakes.

"It has been a pleasure to train for them but I think our association is only just getting started," Zielke said.

"We have achieved these results with only seven two-year-olds and next season I will have twice that number. I am hoping to at least match if not better this season's efforts."
