Provocative's win a milestone for Zabeel

Sunday 12 June 2016, 6:25pm

The legacy of Zabeel has continued with a milestone win by Provocative in the Queensland Oaks.

The late Zabeel now joins his father Sir Tristram as the producer of an Australasian record 45 individual Group One winners.

Both stood at Sir Patrick Hogan's famous Cambridge Stud in New Zealand and are buried alongside each other.

They have both been champion sires on either side of the Tasman and have both produced champions in their own right including three Melbourne Cup winners apiece.

Sir Tristram's Cup winners are Gurner's Lane (1982), Empire Rose (1988) and Brew (2000) while Zabeel boasts Might And Power (1997) Jezabeel (1998) and Efficient (2007).
