Bounding sells for $1.9 million

New Zealand Group One winner Bounding is one of three mares to fetch more than a million dollars on the first day of the National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

United States agent John Moynihan paid $1.9 million on behalf of Stonestreet Farm on Wednesday for the 2014 Railway Stakes winner who was trained by Ken Kelso in New Zealand and raced for the Peter and Paul Snowden stable in Australia.

The China Horse Club secured the day's second highest lot with agent Michael Wallace the successful bidder at $1.4 million for three-year-old Crystal Flute, an Encosta De Lago filly out of Monsoon Wedding, a sister to Redoute's Choice.

Group winner Fontiton went for $1.1 million to the bid of American-based SF Bloodstock which has investments in Australian bloodstock in partnership with Newgate Farm.

Last-start Robert Sangster Stakes winner Precious Gem went for $825,000 with the China Horse Club to keep her with trainer Henry Dwyer for two more Group One starts in the Stradbroke Handicap on June 11 and the Tattersall's Tiara two weeks later.

Other high-priced lots at the Magic Millions auction included Bring Me The Maid ($900,000), Real Surreal ($800,000) May's Dream (720,000) and Serena Miss ($700,000).
