Supido has continued a winning streak at Flemington ahead of a planned shot at the Group One Goodwood in Adelaide.

But those that took the short odds in Saturday's TAB/ATA Celebrates Women Trainers Handicap might have had some nervous moments before Supido showed his class to get home by a long neck over top Tasmanian galloper Admiral.

Trainer Mick Kent only decided to run Supido in the 1000m open handicap in a bid to boost the horse's rating to give him his best chance at making the field for the Group One Goodwood in two weeks.

Supido ($1.55) landed his sixth-straight win as he edged past Admiral ($12) with leader Bullpit holding third, another short neck away.

Jockey James Winks insisted the win had plenty of merit.

"I reckon he has felt the ground, big time," Winks said, with Flemington rated in the good range.

"But apart from that he's given me an awesome feel. He's a nice horse."

Winks said he just had to put Supido into the gap at the 300m after settling just behind the lead and the horse was able to do enough to win.

"The win is a lot better than it looks," he said.

Supido was beaten in his first two starts before his winning streak started in April last year.

It brought up a winning double for the Kent stable at Flemington after Good Value took out an 1800m handicap.

Trainer Barry Campbell and jockey Brendon McCoull were thrilled with Admiral, who had 4.5kg more than the winner, in his first run since late February.

Admiral made his challenge along the inside and had his head in front at the 50m.

"His first-up record is not good, he's chased a really good horse and they broke 57 seconds for the 1000 metres," Campbell said.

"He's gone unbelievable."

All going well, The Goodwood is also on the radar for Admiral.

"He's got to travel right and be right, but it looks a really good race for him," Campbell said.
