Michelle Payne suspended at Warrnambool

Thursday 5 May 2016, 8:27am

Michelle Payne has been suspended at Warrnambool but will be back in time to ride Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance in his only race of the autumn.

Payne will begin her ban after Saturday's Morphettville meeting in Adelaide where she rides the Ciaron Maher-trained Petits Filous in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes.

She returns on May 16 and will be reunited with Prince Of Penzance in the Robert A Lee Stakes at Morphettville on May 21.

Trainer Darren Weir plans to give Prince Of Penzance just one run before getting him ready for the spring.

Damian Lane will be free to ride Ascot Red in the South Australian Derby on May 14 after he serves an eight meeting also incurred at Warrnambool on Wednesday.

His ban ends the night before the Classic.
