Small field likely for Victory Stakes

Tuesday 26 April 2016, 7:54am

Canberra sprinter Fell Swoop is likely to face a small field when he begins his Brisbane campaign in the Victory Stakes at Doomben.

Entries for Saturday's Group Two race have been extended until Tuesday with just six nominations taken.

Fell Swoop's trainer Matthew Dale will have to find a new jockey for the dual Group One placegetter with Damien Oliver suspended at the Anzac Day meeting at Flemington.

Famous Seamus is among the Victory Stakes entries with Ryan Wiggins, who won the 2014 Group One BTC Cup on the gelding, booked for the ride.

The Victory Stakes is the traditional lead-in to the BTC Cup two weeks later.
