All horses safe after Grand National

Sunday 10 April 2016, 3:18pm

All 39 horses and jockeys that took part in this year's Grand National at Aintree are reported to have returned home safely.

The Mouse Morris-trained Rule The World led home 16 finishers in the world's most famous steeplechase in the hands of teenager David Mullins, having his first ride in the race.

Just four horses officially fell, while seven unseated their riders and 12 were pulled up.

"All horses have come back safe," Aintree's clerk of the course, Andrew Tulloch, said.

"It was a great race and congratulations to Mouse Morris and yet another Mullins looks like he's going to be star."
