Royal Hussy win rewards determined owner

Saturday 19 March 2016, 2:26pm

Trainer Brenton Andrew's persistence in buying Royal Hussy paid off when she gave him his first Saturday metropolitan winner at Doomben.

Royal Hussy ($5) was given the run of the race by apprentice Sarah Eilbeck and hung on to beat Collywobble ($6.50) by a short neck with a short half-head to the favourite Stryking Stunnah ($3.60) in the McDonald Sheetpiling Handicap.

Andrew said Royal Hussy was passed in at the Magic Millions March sales last year and her breeder took her to Melbourne for the yearling sales.

"One of my owners was keen on her and eventually we got her with the original owner keeping ten per cent," Andrew said.

"She is the only two-year-old in our stable. I broke her in myself and she has been very honest for us," he said.

Royal Hussy has now had four starts for two wins and two thirds, and Andrew hopes it will encourage more owners to give him young horses.
