Up-and-coming colt Amadeus is likely to stay in Victoria to race at Bendigo rather than head up the highway for another provincial feature.

Unbeaten in two starts, Amadeus has been nominated for two upcoming Guineas races, one at Albury on Friday, the other at Bendigo on Saturday.

Kent, who trained Hattori Hanzo win win the Phar Lap Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday, said he would prefer to keep Amadeus closer to his Cranbourne home rather than make the trek up the Hume highway to Albury.

"I thought he was eligible for an Inglis bonus that was attached to that race at Albury and that's why I nominated him for it, but he's not," Kent said.

Kent said Amadeus had displayed ability from day one and after scoring a debut win over 1000m at Pakenham last month he graduated to Class One grade at Cranbourne over 1200m on March 4.

And Kent said the Bendigo Guineas was a nice progression for the son of Amadeus Wolf although he admitted it was a steep rise in grade.

"He's done everything right," Kent said.

"It's a big step up in class from a Class One to a Listed race at Bendigo, but I think he'll appreciate the big spaces at Bendigo and the seven furlongs (1400m)."

With Craig Williams, who has ridden the colt to his two wins, heading to Sydney for the Golden Slipper meeting at Rosehill, Kent said Brad Rawiller was likely to take the ride on Saturday.

Amadeus is one of 24 nominations for Saturday's race that carries $150,000 prize money.

Tivaci, winner of the CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington on protest from Australian Guineas winner Palentino last month, is one of the 24 entries.
