I'm Belucci returns to Sydney fpr Guineas

Sunday 13 March 2016, 5:12pm

Glen Boss will ride Queenslander I'm Belucci in the Group One Rosehill Guineas with trainer Desleigh Forster excited to see the colt up to 2000 metres again.

I'm Belucci ran second to Rosehill Guineas opponent Vanbrugh in the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in October.

Boss rode I'm Belucci when he was unplaced in the Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast in January.

"At the time Glen thought the horse would appreciate 2000 metres or further," Forster said.

"He is a champion jockey and hopefully we will get a decent barrier so we can be ridden closer to the pace."

The colt has been racing in Brisbane three-year-old events since resuming from a break, finishing second and then fourth at Doomben over 1600m under big weights.

"He will get down in the weights against the better company and we have had to ride him upside down both starts because of the way he a was drawn," Forster said.

"I know we are in the big time on Saturday and there are a couple of very good horses in the Guineas. But I would be disappointed if he didn't run well.

Victoria Derby winner Tarzino is the nominal Guineas favourite and heads betting for the ATC Australian Derby two weeks later.

Forster's other two talented three-year-olds Too Good To Refuse and Cylinder Beach are set to resume in the Gunsynd Plate at Doomben next month.

Too Good To Refuse is being set for the Stradbroke Handicap or Queensland Guineas while Cylinder Beach is headed to the Queensland Derby.

I'm Beluucci is a $26 chance for the Derby (2400m) on April 2 with Tarzino at $2.80 ahead of VRC Oaks winner Jameka and Vanbrugh at $8.

Surprise Randwick Guineas winner Le Romain will be given his chance at 2000 metres with the option to come back to 1600 in the Doncaster on April 2.
