Waller, Godolphin hold aces at Rosehill

Thursday 18 February 2016, 6:35am

Two of Sydney's most powerful stables are expected to dominate stakes racing at Rosehill with favouritism split between the Godolphin and Chris Waller yards.

Astern has opened odds-on for the Group Two Silver Slipper as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record and confirm his Golden Slipper credentials.

Trainer John O'Shea also has the top pick for the Listed Parramatta Cup with the in-form Allergic holding sway in early markets.

His strongest challenge could come from Waller whose three runners include Sydney Cup hopeful Libran, an eye-catching fifth first-up over 1600m at Randwick.

Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement is expected to make a winning start to his latest campaign for Waller in the Hobartville Stakes and is at $2.60 ahead of last-start Gerald Ryan-trained winner Spill The Beans at $5.

Press Statement will be one of three Waller-trained runners in the three-year-old feature along with Spring Champion Stakes winner Vanbrugh and Torgersen.

Waller will be chasing his fifth successive win in the Millie Fox Stakes with defending titleholder Catkins, a narrow favourite ahead of top mare First Seal.
