Sino Eagle set to soar for new stable

Wednesday 20 January 2016, 3:10pm

Smart mare Sino Eagle has worked well enough to indicate she can return to her best Melbourne form and be hard to beat at Doomben.

Sino Eagle will be making her debut for trainer Desleigh Forster in the Listed Nudgee Quality at Doomben and will carry 56kg.

The mare has won seven times in Victoria, six of them in metropolitan races.

Previously trained by Peter Moody, Sino Eagle finished down the track in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Quality two weeks ago, however, Forster says the performance is no indication of Sino Eagle's ability.

"She was stabled with me in the lead up to that race and worked well. Peter (Moody) was really happy with her going into the Millions race but she didn't fire," Forster said.

"The Gold Coast can be a tricky track to handle first time and she never really seemed to travel.

"Sino Eagle has worked well enough since to indicate she should be thereabouts on Saturday."

Provided she races well in the Nudgee Quality, Sino Eagle will remain in Queensland with Forster.

"She has been placed in two stakes races and is already a valuable broodmare prospect. But obviously we would like to get a stakes win beside her name," Forster said.

"At this stage, the plan is for her to race on here until June when she will go through the Magic Millions broodmare sale."

Meanwhile, Forster has decided not to accept at Doomben with another new stable acquisition, Spirit of Heaven, who will instead run next week.

"She is also a nice mare and she ran second in a barrier trail at Deagon on Tuesday when she wasn't knocked about," Forster said.

Spirit of Heaven was also trained by Moody in Melbourne and is owned by one of Forster's clients, Judy Wanless.

"She is a well bred mare and has won at Caulfield and Sandown in Melbourne so she should pay her way here," Forster said.
