Pride plans busy Wine 'N' Dine schedule

Tuesday 12 January 2016, 12:20pm

In the past week Joe Pride has trained his first two-year-old winner for the season, claimed a stakes double at Gosford and won a $1 million race at the Gold Coast.

His next project is to get Wine `N' Dine to win two metropolitan race in four days.

The six-year-old runs in the All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap at Canterbury on Wednesday and, all going well, is likely to back up over 2000m in a higher grade at Randwick on Saturday.

"I certainly wouldn't rule out backing him up on Saturday," Pride said.

"I figure the benchmark 93 at Randwick might be a little bit weak so I think he will back up if he goes OK at Canterbury."

Wine `N' Dine is by Foreplay out of Zelady, making him a half brother to I Am Zelady, the winner of the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares for Pride on Saturday.

"She is by I Am Invincible and has a lot more speed," Pride said.

"A race like the Group Two Sapphire Stakes for fillies and mares looks ideal for her."

Tommy Berry rides Wine `N' Dine at Canterbury and is also aboard the Pride-trained Bonete in TAB Rewards Handicap with Tim Clark to ride stablemate Eleivue.

Pride will also have Sugar Bay Leonard at Canterbury where he runs in the three-year-old in the TAB.com.au Handicap with Brenton Avdulla to ride.

The gelding made his debut just before Christmas, finishing third at Warwick Farm behind the more experienced Edge Away.

With the carnival not far away, Pride has brothers Terravista, Ball Of Muscle and Tiger Tees almost ready to start their Group One campaigns.

"Tiger Tees will be the first one to start, most likely in the Expressway Stakes at the end of the month," he said.

"Terravista will go to the Lightning Stakes at Flemington first-up and Ball Of Muscle will start off in the Challenge Stakes."
