As he was in the spring, Boban will be first cab off the Group One rank for leading trainer Chris Waller.

The six-year-old won the first Group One race of the season when he took out the Memsie Stakes in August.

His new year mission is a tilt at the C F Orr Stakes at Caulfield when Group One racing gets underway for 2016 on February 13 followed by the Futurity Stakes, also over 1400 metres, two weeks later.

Boban is scheduled to run in a barrier trial at Randwick on Tuesday, his first public appearance since he finished last of nine in the Darley Classic won by his Chris Waller-trained stablemate Delectation.

"He will have a different autumn this year and will run in the C F Orr and the Futurity in Melbourne," Waller said.

For the past two years, Boban has spent the autumn in Sydney, running in the Expressway Stakes, the Apollo Stakes and the Chipping Norton which he won in 2014.

The Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) will be the starting point for Preferment who has returned in good condition from his unsuccessful trip to Hong Kong.

"He has been working at Werribee while he has been in quarantine," Waller said.

"He will go to the Chipping Norton and then to the Australian Cup."

Although Preferment is a Victoria Derby winner and ran in the 2015 Melbourne Cup, Waller is not convinced he is a true stayer.

"Although he's by Zabeel, he is out of a Flying Spur mare and may not be a real stayer," he said.

"He might be better at the 2000 metres."

Preferment followed his Group Two Hill Stakes win in September with victory in the Group One Turnbull Stakes, both over 2000 metres.

He was out of touch in the Cox Plate won by his stablemate Winx and finished among the tail enders in the Melbourne Cup before his unplaced effort in the Hong Kong Cup.

Waller also has Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement and Spring Champion Stakes winner Vanbrugh listed to trial against Boban over 830 metres on the Kensington track.
