Vancouver's brother sells for $1.5 million

Friday 8 January 2016, 6:37pm

A brother to Golden Slipper winner Vancouver has become the third million dollar lot on the third day of the Magic Millions yearling day on the Gold Coast.

The colt, by 2012 Golden Slipper winner Pierro out of Skates, was knocked down to Coolmore Stud for $1.5 million after a spirited few minutes of four-way bidding.

Coolmore bought a controlling share of Medaglia D'Oro colt Vancouver after he won last year's Golden Slipper.

Earlier in the day bloodstock agent James Harron paid $1.4 million for a Pierro colt out of Monsoon Wedding and backed up with a $1 million Snitzel colt out of Nocturnelle.

Harron bought the $1.4 million colt on behalf of an American John Sikura of Hill `N" Dale Farm in Kentucky.

Snitzel has been responsible for three of the five million dollar lots so far at the sale with Damion Flower outlaying $1.6 million on Thursday for a colt out of 2006 Magic Millions Classic winner Mirror Mirror.

That colt will go to Gerald Ryan who also trained Snitzel for Flower.
