The Seductress aims for Caulfield success

Having been forced to shelve Magic Millions Classic plans for two-year-old The Seductress, trainer Jason Warren has shifted the focus to races closer to home.

The Seductress was bought last year with Saturday's $2 million sales-restricted Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast in mind.

"She was very close to getting a trip up," Warren, who is at the Gold Coast for this year's Magic Millions yearling sales, said.

"She just had a little setback after her first start and it's just had us behind the eight-ball from there."

The Seductress's prize money from her third at Bendigo on debut in October and her maiden win last month at the same track would not have been enough to secure a berth in the Magic Millions field.

Instead, The Seductress runs in Saturday's Louise Chapple Plate (1000m) at Caulfield in Melbourne and is one of only three youngsters in the field of 10 with race experience.

"If she runs well on Saturday she can go to the Blue Diamond Preview," Warren said.

He said one positive about missing the Magic Millions was The Seductress would have a better chance to gain black-type this campaign, hopefully in the Group Three Blue Diamond Preview for fillies on January 26 and the Prelude in February.

By Snitzel, The Seductress won a 900m maiden on December 20 and Warren said she was a professional.

"She begins well, settles well and finishes strongly," he said.

The Seductress is at $9 for Saturday's race in an open market with debutante Najmaat from the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig stable the $4.20 favourite.

"There's a few first starters in there," Warren said.

"Our filly has got the score on the board with no weight and she's got an in-form jockey on in Jye McNeil, so we've ticked all the boxes we can tick."
