Sundance withdrawn from Magic Millions

Friday 8 January 2016, 8:39am

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne will ride in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with emergency Rainy Day Woman gaining a start following the scratching of Sundance.

The Toby Edmonds-trained Sundance failed to recover from a hoof abscess and was withdrawn on Friday morning from the $2 million race at the Gold Coast.

Two other runners, Conchita and Dieters, will have to pass veterinary tests on Friday afternoon to take their places in Saturday's field.

Sydney trainer Gary Portelli put second emergency Zafina on a north-bound float on Thursday in anticipation one of the two doubtful runners would be scratched.
