Cue Card in line for rich jumps bonus

Monday 28 December 2015, 9:34am

Cue Card is just one win away from earning a STG1 million ($A2.05 million) bonus following his King George VI Chase success.

The prize is on offer for any horse that can complete the triple crown of the Betfair Chase, King George and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Trainer Colin Tizzard confirmed Cue Card's next start would be the Cheltenham feature in March.

The nine-year-old got up on the line to deny Irish raider Vautour by a head in a thrilling finish to Saturday's King George at Kempton.

"He had a hard race," Tizzard said.

"He trotted out fine this morning, but we won't run again (before the Gold Cup).

"He's had three quick-ish races and it's only just over two months anyway."

Tizzard said winning the Gold Cup would be reward in itself although the bonus was an added attraction.

"When they put the money up I thought it was an impossible task, but it's getting closer," he said.

"If we win a King George and a Gold Cup that would be something to live on for the rest of my life, anyway."
