Traveston Girl chases triple crown finale

Tuesday 15 December 2015, 3:27pm

Traveston Girl will bid to make a clean sweep of Brisbane's summer racing series when she tackles the Listed Bernborough Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.

The Tony Gollan-trained mare has taken out the first two legs, the Recognition Stakes and Brisbane Handicap, at her most recent starts.

She held on by a half head to beat Hopfgarten in the Brisbane Handicap and the Robert Heathcote-trained horse will again be among her rivals.

Hopfgarten will have the benefit of a 1.5kg weight turnaround on Traveston Girl who has been given 55.5kg under the quality handicap conditions.

She is one of four entries from the Gollan stable which has dominated Brisbane racing this summer.

Gai Waterhouse has nominated consistent mare Role Model for the Bernborough, one of two Sydney entries along with the John Sargent-trained Centre Pivot.
