Baroness Zeena chases big payday for Flo

BRISBANE, Dec 1 AAP - Trainer Flo Braybrook has only one regret as her tough mare Baroness Zeena heads towards the $100,000 Summer Provincial Series final at Doomben on Saturday.

"We left it to the last gasp to get in. The only pity is the final isn't at Beaudesert because she goes pretty good at home," Braybrook said.

Baroness Zeena has had seven starts at Beaudesert for five wins and two seconds.

However, the seven-year-old has a good overall record having won nine of her 38 starts.

The series was run over seven $20,000 heats at provincial tracks with the final carrying $100,000 and a $5,000 bonus for trainers.

Racing Queensland introduced the series to help non-metropolitan horses race for increased stakes.

Baroness Zeena grabbed the last spot in the final with her nose victory in the final heat at Beaudesert on Friday.

"She is an honest trier and she deserves a chance at some big money," Braybrook said.

Meanwhile, former star two-year-old Frequendly has shortened to second favourite for the Cannonball Series final (800m) at Kilcoy next Sunday.

The Cannonball series has been run in five heats at provincial tracks with a $30,000 final that carries a bonus for any horse which can break 44secs for 800m.

Frequendly, who was once favourite for the 2015 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, ran second in a Cannonball heat last Wednesday after being caught deep.

Trainer Les Ross said Frequendly would chase the final and the bonus.
